31 Model A Roadster Fasteners

I recently installed a new top on my 31 Roadster. "Cinch' fasteners were provided to hold the back window up to the straps when you want the window open. I have found that these fasteners do not provide a very postive way of keeping the window suspended and that after a few miles, one or more will release allowing the window to fall down. I contacted the supplier and he said "they should work" but they don't. Looking for ideas. What have others used? Is the "common sense" fastener or something else a better solution? Any input appreciated.

My ‘29 roadster does the same thing. I’m guessing that it has crappy 80’s/90’s repro hardware. I took three basic hardware store washers that were just barely undersized and opened them up enough with a drill bit and a file until they would just slide over the clinch fasteners and hold solid. Flip up the window, slide on the washers, and drive! When not in use, I store them on a magnet under the seat with all of my other driving essentials.
