31 Ford Stalling Issue

I guess I must be getting old. I mixed up the thread I was commenting in. I had a similar problem last week and it turned out to be corrosion on the ground strap where it connected to the frame.

I've had this happen to me three time in three different vehicles; first time it was the coil going bad, second time it was the modern ignition switch wire behind the dash vibrating and shorting out to the dash that would cause the stalling and run the battery down, third time it was a bad cell in the battery which wouldn't hold a charge.

Sounds like something is grounding out to kill your battery. Keep us posted.
A little more info:
Prior to this, I had removed the gas tank to fix the leaks around the steering column bracket. In the process, since most of the fire wall was removed, I took the opportunity to replace all ignition wiring from starter to the terminal box, to distributor and generator and the harness to the instrument panel. After that, I had driven the car at least 100 miles with no issues. This problem started when the existing battery went dead and I replaced it. Last night, I had only a few minutes to check. The battery still had plenty of cranking power, but no spark, no lights. So I guess I'll be starting at the terminal box to check voltage.

Some of the condensers that the parts suppliers sell are bad out of the box, had one and went to NAPA and got their best , no problem condenser now....

If you use a repro switch make sure the contacts don't touch the gas tank. They did on my 29 Tudor and I was lucky to be present when it touched, or I would have killed th battery and cooked the coil.
