31 CC Truck cab back

Is there a difference in the 31 early and the steel top cab back? My cab back only has small squares to nail to the top wood header. They are all the way across the top cab back. There is not a tack strip about an inch wide as I've seen on other cab backs. Do I need to add at tack strip to use this on my 30 model cc truck?

I had one of each at one time, and there is a little difference in the tacking tabs, but from what i have heard they can be interchanged with a little work,, actually the truck cab that flop on here is doing for me uses an earlier back with the steel top
