I would look for good used wheels first. The new ones are like $200, if I remember right. I don't think anyone will true up a Model A wheel today.

The current price for Model A wheels at parts suppliers is $365.00 each plus shipping.

365 X 5 = $1825.00 plus shipping !

I would hold out for original wheels. Check with your local Model A or Early V8 clubs and see if there is anyone in your area that can straighten the wheels. There is a shop in Los Angeles in case you are ever in the neighborhood. Maybe you could offer to take the wife and kids to Disneyland or catch the LA Roadster show.

There are several threads and a few tech articles about heating the spokes and then quenching them. I have trouble understanding this process. I recall one of our Barners in MN writing a tech article about this. I will try this later this year.

Berts in Denver usually has really good sand blasted original model A wheels. I bought a set for my 31 tudor from them. Phone 800-321-1931 . We installed a set of the new 19 inch wheels on the 30 pick up and didn't like them nearly as much as the original wheels from Berts.

I am the guy from MN that Vic in E-TN mentions in post #5.

I have written two article on straightening wheels...one by pressing and later, one using the spoke shrinking method.

What do I do now? I use the spoke shrinking method whenever I can and only use the press when necessary.

The link below takes you to my website where you will find the two articles on the DIY Help page.

Good Day!
