30 Roadster PU Windshield Question

Have a new windshield frame and want to drill the appropriate holes before I have the glass installed. Looking for the hole locations for the wiper and the top snaps. Is there a drawing that will give the dimensions? If not could someone measure them for me? Appreciate any help. Project came without a windshield.

Jim, it is not that hard to do even with the glass installed as you won't hit the glass without drilling through a second layer of steel inside. I often find is generally easier to install the snaps after the top flap is on the bow to better match the male & female portion of the snaps.

Do you have the top? If not I would wait, mark the locations to exactly match the snaps on your top so you can be SURE they will align.
Does'nt the wiper clamp to the windshield frame? No holes needed. That's how the wiper attaches on a '30 Deluxe Roadster.

Are you going with a vacuum wiper? If so it mounts over the top with clamps as Tom says.If you're going with a hand wiper,I would put the tube in first, sometimes they take a little fiddling to get them square with the frame. If you try to match the top snaps to the snaps in the frame you will learn some new words.I've done it with an original frame that had snaps already in it,but I was never happy with the result. If the snaps are already in the top,it is much easier to make them line up on the frame.

Thanks for the inputs. Have decided to go ahead and put the glass in and then drill the holes. Have a new L/B top and will locate the snap holes from that. Regarding the wiper I plan to use a vacuum wiper and from what I can find in the standards all vacuum wipers on the 30/31 open cab pickups were mounted with two screws. I understand that the clamp arrangement was used with the electric wiper not the vacuum.
Thanks again for your responses and I will keep you posted on my progress.

SLOW DOWN! Review the Standards again. The wiper indeed mounted with clamps which placed the operating shaft above the frame as well. No holes are added for the wiper except for two tiny holes to mount the hose routing clamps.

Marco, Thanks for the heads up on the wiper mounting. I have the 1997 Revisions of the Standards and I did find in the text the statement "On Roadsters, Phaetons, and Open Cab Pickups, the wiper was mounted inside the windshield. Mounting screws passed through mounting clamps and were threaded into the ears of the wiper motor" I guess I missed the significance of that statement earlier. The only reference I could find for the mounting brackets M1, M2 or M3 was related to electric wipers OD-01 and OD-02. Are the clamps for the TR-O1C described anywhere? I see Bratton's catalog list clamps for the vacuum wiper on open cars. Will go that route.
Thanks again for your help.

Jim Kellett
