The front cross member on my 1930 A Town Sedan is cracked and broken in the top center area, where the front spring attaches. An area about 2.75 inches wide and 6 inches long is affected If a good job (professional shop) of cutting the stressed metal out and welding in new metal is done would repair be a good option or is it necessary to replace the entire front crossmember.

Thank you for sharing your experiences related to front cross members. ( if replacement is necessary I am in the market for a high quaility front cross member.)
 
My brothers coupe had a cracked and crumbly cross member in the same location. We weren't able to weld it because of the condition of the metal so we replaced it with a good used one.
