There are two lengths of steering columns for the '30-31 two tooth gear boxes. Since the Service Bulletin for Feb. 1930 pg. 422 mentions the change to one inch longer, obviously there are mostly long versions that were made. All the ones I have are the long version. What I would like to know is what is the "tube" length for the short version? All of my long ones have a tube length of roughly 38 inches (measured from the bottom end up to the serrated flange that the levers ride against). I assume (bad word) that it will be approximately 37 inches BUT I want to know for sure. In other words I would think the gear box wasn't lengthened where the tube clamps to go along with the lengthened shaft whereby the tube length remained the same. Wordy, I know!
