brent.....many thanks for the marvelous photos, sure gives me an idea what i might have in store for my self....again...many thanks.....les in minn-e-sota

great photos Brent- nice to see how its built.

I bought a gibbons rear door a few months back and am looking for a 30-31 body to apply it.

Hellerlj,

I'm sure am drooling over the body that you have purchased. I understand we all have our own opinions but I would like to ENCOURAGE YOU to restore that delivery STOCK! I mention this because of the picture you posted shows a V8 in the frame. Hoping that is just a TEMPORARY LOCATION!

PLEASE DON'T BE OFFENDED by this post, but it is my opinion of what I would do!

All the Best!

Cape Codder....I only bought the body, the frame, stock or not, was not to my liking.....I really haven't decide what I am going to do with it, right now, it just makes me feel good to see it sitting in the garage....NO OFFENCE TAKEN....Thanks for chiming in....

While it is neat to see these bodies in an original state, this car is likely going to be time & cost prohibitive to re-wood. I need to go back and verify this, but as I recall this body has about 250, -to maybe 300 manhours to fabricate the wood and install it where the doors a swinging and closing properly. Doing the math at present day wages, that is $20k - $25k which does not include mediablasting, sheetmetal repair, nor the wood stock, screws, glue, and related materials. The talent it takes to replicate this adds to the difficulty level -and unfortunately fewer and fewer hobbyists have the stamina or ability to complete such a project.

On the flip side, I could sheetmetal the entire inside using 16 gauge sheetmetal to make tubing or sills for probably one-third to one-half the time. Additionally, there are probably 10-to-1 craftsmen out there that could capably sheetmetal one vs. re-wood one. So if it comes down to actually putting this one back onto the road, the sheetmetal way may be the most prudent way for most people.

Brent, thanks for your candor, it always helps to bring folks back to earth with a healthy dose of reality.....sure gives one something to think about...right now, it just pleases me to have out in the garage, i can go and look at it anytime i like.....
