Now that my firewall is repaired, the cowl panels are the next step. I've got a spot weld drill to take care of the panel to firewall welds, once they are off the firewall and cowl framework are off to the sandblaster. What is the best way to reweld things? I don't have access to a pinch welder, so rosette welds are planned. Would a 1/4 hole in the firewall in the location or the original spots, and a weld from the inside be the way to go? New panels are from Brookville. Just need some input from those that have "Been there, done that" Thanks for your help. Bob:)

I would think you have the right idea. Welding from the inside would leave a much better looking (read, easier to grind) weld visable from the outside of the car.

I want that original spot weld depression you see on the outside, the inside weld should procuce it. I have a junk firewall to test things on.

I would try welding in whatever manner you see fit...metal finish to level... then melt a small dot with a TIG or oxy/ace torch on the outside to produce a small "drop" in the metal surface replicating the pinch/spot weld.
