An upcoming winter project for me will be replacing both side door header brackets that join the windshield pillar and B pillar. The car is still in use so I haven’t been able to take a close look without the headliner and trim in it. I’m just trying to come up with a battle plan and brace myself for how big of a cluster-jam I think this might be. The mounting at the windshield post is straightforward enough but I’m wondering about how it connects to the B pillar. Am I correct in assuming that the bracket is sandwiched between the pillar and the wood door header? Is it bolted through the wood? What I’m really concerned about is needing to remove the wood to get the bracket in there because the car has sheet metal welded over the roof opening and I’m sure that will make removing or replacing the wood much more difficult.
