I have a 57 Fairlane 500 4 door with a 312 ,3 speed column shift .
A friend of mine has a 3 speed OD floor shift out of a Granada . The Granada ****** has the shifting levers on the side . Could it be converted over to using the column shift ? OD is manual shift
Thanks for any input. Kurte

The Granada is what they refer to a SROD overdrive. It is a modified four speed top loader that shifts 1-3-4-3. With the third gear set made to produce and overdrive ratio. It has no provisions to install shift shafts and all the necessary interlocks to convert to a column shift. If the case is drilled for both early and late bellhousing patterns, you could bolt it to your bellhousing and fab a new trans mount and a different drive shaft but you would have to cut a hole in the floor pan and hope the shifter came up in front of the seat. You would be far better off to find a late '50's Ford overdrive unit and install it. Much less trouble and it could be used with the column shift you already have.

I ran an SROD for a short time, the ratio's really suck. I do not recommend them. Seek a five speed, or a stock OD unit.

Better off to get a T85 3 speed with overdrive, or if your not a maniac with burn outs you could use a T86 3 speed with overdrive...fairly easy install.I put a T86 in my 55 Ford sedan and I love it. I also put a T85 in my 56 t-bird and that works well also.....J
