3 Pt Seat Belt install

Just picture this in your mind before you do anything with belts in your "A". YOU ARE IN YOUR "A" SECURELY HELD IN WITH THE BELT FASTENED SOLIDLY TO THE VEHICLE FRAME. A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OCCURS AND THE "FLIMSY" WOOD-FRAMED BODY IS TORN OFF THE FRAME AND ENDS UP NEXT TO THE CHASSIS, IN THE DITCH! Where are you now, remembering that you were strapped to the frame? A guess would be that your lower half would still be strapped to the frame! GO FIGURE

I think that any crash such as that would result in seat belts being the least of your worries. I have a very good friend who is very intelligent except when it comes to seatbelts.. He claims in an impact the belts will cause catastrophic internal organ damage. The fact that a crash hard enough for the seatbelts to injure you would statistically not be survivable seems to be lost on him, and he has a CDL and drives truck for a living. Takes all kinds I guess. I spent the first half of my adult life as an EMT and Fireman, I never unbuckled a seatbelt off a corpse but lifted several off of unused seatbelts. Despite working on numerous horrendous crashes resulting in the fatality of someone involved, I never knew of a seatbelt adding any significant injury to any victim.

Here's the 3 point pivot and retractor on the B pillar in my 160B.
A Tudor should be easier, as the B pillar is wider.

The height of the upper pivot from the seat was determined using DOT/SAE guidelines.
When you buy a 'kit' the mounting height is in the instructions.

I recall, as a wee lad, riding in the back seat of a 38 Ford sedan and my mother making a sharp left turn in a parking lot whereupon the right rear door suddenly flew open and I was ejected. Had I not bounced off of the running board I'm sure I would have been rolled over.

(My sister, the other passenger, claims she tried to grab not push me but I still refer to the incident as her first assassination attempt on me).

if your in an accident bad enough to worry about internal damage at least you will have a chance, unlike your head thru a windshield.

usually people in car accidents with seatbelts in proper use get brusing on the shoulder/chest area or may break a collar bone in a severe enough crash but its much better than face reconstruction or shattered jaw if your lucky when not wearing them.

a well known local guy was killed when he either went off the road or swerved to avoid something and hit a tree(never know - wasnt drug or alcohal related in any way), went thru the windshield (no seatbelt) and somehow the s10 rolled on top of him pinning him underneath the truck and a boulder. sadly it was a long while before someone went that backroad and noticed a truck off the road...
