putting the final touches on my 8ba. recently picked up an offy 3 carb and 3 97s that need rebuilt. who has the best kits and replacement parts? also need some help on what linkage works best, and who has it? and lastly, syncronizing the carbs, i thought about using the stock intake to dial each one in, then put the offy on, btw, i also have a mech advance dizzy. i am a total novice on multi carb set ups, so any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance!

3 carbs on a stock street driven motor, I would install it with a plate under the front and rear carbs and you get the look and it will run better.

Get it running on just the center carb with the outers blocked off. Later, you can decide if you want to put your foot into it with the outer carbs operative or just for looks. I have a 48 in the center of my 239 and I will add the 97's later on the outsides just for looks. 2 cents.

I find this interesting, Yes 3 carbs look good on an engine. But, unfortunately they lead to over carburetoration and poor driveability. Also the 400jr cam needs velosity to function properly. JWL's book shows the affect of risersors on the intake manifold. In the old days we solved most of these problems ny progressive linkage. This should be set to 3/4 on the center carb before the end two come in, Also limit the end carbs to 1/2 throttle opening. This improves driveability and has little affect on STREET performance..

i would talk to ken ct on this web site.

I HAVE 3 97's on my 59a block. i sent all three carbs to charlie NY with my progressive linkage. He put smaller inards on the outer 2 and set my linkage up so that the outers open at 1/2 throttle give or take. I bought the block not knowing what cam is in it only that it was rebuilt. I just drove the car from cape cod to burlington vermont (6hrs one way) and ran like a champ. Center carb is choked on startup and after its warm, idles great and runs great. I got 16 to 18 miles per gallon on the hot ride home. about 20 miles per gallon on the way up. Used a stock fuel pump. On some of the larger hills, ...i did have to switch on the electric backup fuel pump to get over the top. I'd talk to charles in new york. The only problem i have with him is he's a Buffalo Bill fan. :) CP

have talked to charly ny, and uncle max, so parts are not going to be a problem. charley sugessted i bring up jetting here to get some opinions, im around 500 feet above sea level, thanks in advance.

My late flathead is a MFC-built 286" running 3 97s with straight
linkage. I know many say this setup will not work properly, but it can, and does on mine. The car is a '32 roadster, with a Mustang T-5 and 4:11 gears into 31" 750-16s. The cam has .390" lift with adv. 290 (act. 234) duration. Jetting is #43s with #69 PVs here in No. Indiana a couple hundred' over sea level, and ignition is Mallory magnetic trigger with 22 max@2400, at this time. Choking in on the center only, and warm up takes a couple of minutes because of the Navarro intake I'm running has no exhaust crossover. But once warm, the engine runs great. No bogs, flat spots, or ANY drivability problems. Throttle response is very crisp, and I can lug it down to 1500 in OD and it will pull. Mileage is always +/- 20 on the road. I don't know what more I could ask out of it.
A progressive setup would work great also, and mileage would be better around town, (It varies from about 8 to 14, depending on how much fun I'm having' :D) but I'll stick with what I have.
I started out with rebuilt 97s, but had some problems and finally switched to new genie English 97s from Uncle Max, and they are GREAT! So is Max. :)
