3.25 gears in a deuce

Hi Mart

Yes as it happens Douglas (trad v8) has a couple of Laycock over drives and we were speaking with Bryan Daly about machining up the closed drive to fit this. Some photos as you asked would be great and might be another option?

Choices choices as they say.

The unit is self contained. Comes off of the back of an M46 Volvo transmission. It holds it's own oil in the sump below the unit. (TypeF in the case of Volvo, 30W when the Model A guy builds them, and I believe 90W in Triumph repair manuals)

This is the Volvo M46 Transmission

I have 3.25 gears in my 276 Model A roadster. I put 15 tooth main gears in transmission. The low transmission gears give about the same overall ratio in first and second as a 3.78 with stock transmission. I was concerned the bigger gap between second and third would bog down. It does not. I do not have to rev high in second before I shift.

So It has lower gearing to take off and higher to cruise. Works good in the light car.
