'29 timing

ive done that tom & all lines up . when the pin is in the hole , #1 is up , both valves closed & timing indicator is correct . have i done something wrong ?? ... steve
 
Do the easiest checks first. If you are unsure if it's fuel or ignition then pull the coil wire and hold it 1/4" from the head and see if you have a good blue spark at least 1/4" long while cranking. If you do then I'd think you have a fuel problem. Since you have a fuel pump and downdraft carb I won't get into that, but let us know what the spark looks like.

Is by any chance the pop-out cable (or new style screwed in too far to dist. With key on and points closed, do you get a spark when you open the points??

yes i get spark . i checked that also . thank you for the thought . back to the garage to see if maybe it fixed itself over nite ! LOL ...... steve

well , got the timing cover off & no marks on the new cam gear ! but by putting it at tdc b 4 i pulled it , it appears as tho it is off by a few teeth . really confused now with no marks ! model 'a's are so much fun ! ............. steve
any ideas on how i might retime this ???
 
well pulled the cam gear , retimed , no good . start again tommorrow . cranks really slow like it is out of time . i know ... no **** dick tracy ......... thanks all .. steve

Many years ago, I had a 30 that would only run if the choke was closed, throttle was open, and it would run at a very slow idle for hours. Found the problem was a almost plugged gas line. Was getting enough gas to run, very slow. Fixed the stopage and she was a runner. Iceman
 
well thanks to youall , i got it runnin ! multiple problems . i hate it when that happens ! cam timing out , thus dist timing out . so all is good here & again i really thank you all for your help ! .................... steve
