29 Sport Coupe Interior Options ??

okay, since i need to decide on a color to paint my 29 sport coupe, i also need to weigh out my interior choices with it.

Did standard interior colors / top color / rumble colors go together with a particular exterior paint job?

I have got interior samples from both LeBaron Bonney and Cartouche and there are several options. Are these the only people that make correct interior for Model A ?

I assume for frame off restore (although not going for a point car), i should go with the Authentic offered and not the Non-Authentic they sell due to will hurt resale if i ever do need to sell her?

thanks

Although you didn't ask my opinion, I feel strongly enough to tell you as a friend that you need to throw the Cartouche catalog in the trash can immediately!! As a substitute, check out a company called Classtique Upholstery in Minnesota. Neither company will provide you a 100% accurate (authentic) kit but both of those will be accepted in the Model A hobby as "good". I personally use the Classtique kits over the L/B.

thanks, i am asking anyones opinion. i am lerning here. the two names i mentioned are the only ones that i was aware of. so i will take a look at who you recommend.

do you know is there a particular color combo that goes with the paint? example if i choose bonnie gray for my paint, which interior colors were appropriate or came from factory VS. if i go rose beige then which.

thanks

Do you have the J/S? They tell what interiors are correct for the different time periods. !929 started with blue hairline stripe, the before mid year changed to a brown check.

hello, no i dont have that. i assume you mean judge standards? where is good place to buy a copy?

so would blue interior be put in a brown car? or brown interior in a gray or blue car? was it based on month car was built more then the color of exterior??

Either of the national Model A clubs has the standards, or you can buy them from most of the Parts houses.

The color of your interior depends only on when the car was built. I'm glad my 2-23-29 Tudor is early and has the blue hairline stripe interior, as well as the good looking drum taillight.

Generally, with the exception of Deluxe closed models there was only one interior trim available at any given time. That means that YES, which interior trim it had depends on when the car was built regardless of paint color. Additionally, the original interior trim colors were typically more muted and therefore more neutral than today's counterpart so they did not clash with various exterior colors as some of the color names may suggest. I hope that makes sense!

thanks, yes that makes sense. and so i am correct the serial number of engine is used to date car. right? because i did read how the frame and firewall numbers can be different up to months because of how parts were made and stored and also how old stock was used up and just put on cars.

A good place to start is the date on the gas tank. What's your date? It's located just over the lip and above the steering column. Also does your car have a drum taillight, or is it mounted on the fender?

When the engine was installed in the car, the engine number was stamped on the frame. So no, the engine number must match the frame number. You should buy a copy of the latest 2011 Judging Standards and a copy of the full size reprint of the Ford Service Bulletins. these two documents should be your first 2 books.
