29 Roadster Shocks

I ended up with my dads 29 roadster, lots to learn, the car has never had shocks on it. It may have when he got it in 1968 but I guess he just never saw the need or never had justificaton for spending the money on them.

Anyhow, can somone steer me to figuring out what parts I need?

Any thoughts on how much its going to cost.

Its a handfull in turns at 30mph if there are bumps, just want to make it a bit more safe.

Thanks guys

Gregory

If you look in most vendors catalogs you will find a list of what you need. As for the basic shock, here are a few leads on people that make, sell or repair shocks.

How far is Greg from Tom W?? Doesn't Minneapolis have a pretty active Model A clb? If so, IMHO this gentleman needs a mentor or two who can work with him first-hand and assist him sorting out his 'new' vehicle. One can assume that if it is indeed a handful sans the shocks, there is likely more that is needing attention on the suspension system.

Wow, love this place, thanks guys, yeah, more is going on than the shocks, Dad had an old checkbook register with oil changes and maintinance going back about 20 years. Also had recent (2005) notes on front end stuff that needs fixing.

I found few guys up north that can hook me up with rims that are in better shape, I will inquire with them on the shocks as well.

Dad had something like 25 Model A/T's over his life, the ones he restored were 100% original and correct, something Im looking to continue with.

Well, I did put some more modern points in the dist....Shhhhh! Only kept me awak one night ;)

Im not new to building cars, just never paid enough attention while helping him to maintian originality here. It was restored about 40 years ago and since has been up pikes peak, great lakes, salt lake and a few other glidden tours I cant remember.

I want to get it well sorted for another Glidden tour, trying to talk all my siblings to do the same with the cars of his they now have.

lots to research

Thanks again.

Gregory
