29 Roadster Pickup Windshield Question

Can somebody tell me why my 29 Roadster Pickup windshield swings open but has no provision to prop it up. I understand that 30/31's have a lower arm to accomplish this. Has anyone come up with a better solution than a rubber ball? It would be nice on hot days.

The 30-31's do not have a provision for that either.Friction in the cups/pivots is supposed to hold it open.But,with either wear on originals or poor fit on repro parts they won't stay open very well. On my 30 RPU I wedge a roll of electrical tape out of the toolbox between the W/S frame and the dash rail I've probably done it twice in the last 5 years.

I have found that if you take the cups and cones and media blast them with a course sand, the friction between the two will allow them to stay when tightened. Also, if the cup is too large, heat it until hot and then cool rapidly to shrink it. This will allow it fit the cone better.
