'29 Phaeton Curtain Tray

Should the curtain tray just slide out? We removed the three screws holding it on the front side; we don't see any other screws. Can it be removed without removing the body?

Hopefully these came through...

The late '28 and '29 curtain pan placed under the front seat is part of the body floor and riveted in numerous places (about 12 places?). Why are you trying to remove it?

Thank you Mr. Marco.
We were trying to remove it to clean and repaint it. I am not exactly a small person, 6'1" - 270+/-, so it is easier to remove and clean vs doing it in place. We acquired the car from someone on the coast of Mississippi and to say his upkeep of the car was minimal is an understatement. We are removing most nuts and bolts, as well as any part easily removed, to clean and repair/replace... example... last night, the three small carriage bolts at the front of the tray(would anyone have a part # for these?), sheared off while attempting to remove them even though we had soaked them in penetration oil. Many of the screws that have been changed out are of the incorrect type...even so far as using wood screws, finishing nails or wire as cotter pins. We have changed the wiring because he had cut it up in places and spliced with household wire nuts.

Mind you, we aren't trying to make a show car out of it but since we were having to have the tank boiled and sealed, we took the opportunity to do other cleaning and repairs while we had the car apart. This bank of knowledge, this forum, is a tremendous help as the archive and the live answers have come along at just the right time for us. Thanks again to you and all for the tremendous help!! Not sure if the rivet info that was suggested for this thread earlier, is for original curtain tray but the tray in ours had 3 carriage bolts on front lip, 3 carriage bolts on upper part of tray through a cross bar(?) under the front seat and 2 carriage bolts on each side wing of the tray into the body edges.

You can see the crusty state of the tray and thus the reason for wanting to remove the tray. Now that we can get a complete picture of the tray, we have found a few areas of deep pitting and a couple of pinholes on the upper back edge. My question is, if we strip, primer and paint, will the metal in this tray continue to eat away at itself or should we seek a new one? I saw a few new ones on different vendors and I would rather not have to do this again in a few months, years, etc...
