'29 Murray Body Alignment Question

'29 Murray I recently replaced the entire sill and rear third window wood. Frame has been straightened and now level. Now I need to reattach the body and need some measurements to get it back correctly. Anyone out there with experience or a '29 Murray with the doors in good alignment that can give me measurements? I need the distance between the door posts (top and bottom), height of the center posts and heights of the front and back door posts. This should give me a fighting chance to align the doors. Any other advice out there other than never do this again?

There's a little paperback called Model A Ford Restoration Handbook by Gordon E. Hopper, 1st printing May, 1966, ISBN 0-89287-263-2 that has a bunch of dimensional measurements for all models and it might help if you could get hold of a copy. I'm not clear on how to interpret some of them or I would attempt to answer your questions directly--don't want to steer you wrong. Let me know if you get desperate. I have a 29 Murray Town Sedan and could attempt to take measurements that don't require removing panels, headliner, etc. Also, off-and-on there has been a Town Sedan Club, ran for many years by Bill Lancaster, I believe. Maybe he could help if someone knows how to contact him.

Not sure of publisher. Looks like Polyprints Books About Ford. Numbers C17 and H523 also appear on cover.

Don't despair. Mine sat for a few years while I got up the courage to take various reconstruction steps.

My '29 Murray is not a slant windshield. Solid wood sills at the sides, front, center and rear crossmembers. The measurements I need do not require removing any panels or headliner. Basically just the opening around the doors (I'll subtract out for the metal covers over the wood door posts). Any measurements to start with will help. Thanks

OK, here's about the best I can do.

P indicates passenger side; D is driver's side

Front and center vertical measurements are from wood floor to the lowest point on the dropped channel of the upper cladding. The front vertical measurements are taken inside the doorway but written outside for convenience. All other measurements are metal to metal.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you can't decipher the picture.

Great. This should get me started anyway. I'm sure each car will need to have a custom adjustment. Not a shocker after 80 years. Thanks for taking the time to help. Now I know why folks tend to steer away from these early fordors.
