29 dash rail

Is there a difference between a 29 Roadster and 29 Tudor dash rails, and if so what is the difference. My parts catalog lists a 29 dash rail for a roadster and phaeton, but does not say it is also for a 29 Tudor. I cannot see a difference.
Thanks for teaching an old Model A man.

Are you referring to the part that is attached above the instrument panel with 6 machine screws? If so, the dashs are definitely different between phaeton's, roadster's & OCPU's and tudors & coupes. I have both styles of cars and they are NOT the same.

Yes that is the panel I am referring to. What is the difference? I am only talking about the rail that has the small dimple above the dash plate. I have a 29 Tudor that has a dash rail that looks the same as my 29 roadster. If there is some difference I would love to know what to look for. Thanks for any help.

The open vehicle dash panels are thinner than the closed car panels. Also the open vehicle dash panels are slightly curved, top to bottom, where as closed cars like a tudor's, coupe's and CCPU's have a straight flat face. Both open vehicles and closed car panels have the small dimple in the center. If you have both a 29 roadster and a 29 tudor, you should be able to see the significant differences in the panels. If you only look at the 2 panels face, they look similar, but if you look at the top, you will see the open vehicle panel is about half the width of the closed car panel. I will see if I have pictures of both types of panels and if I do, I will post the pictures here.

Thank You Rusty. My 29 Tudor is in storage without lights and I did not see the difference. (my excuse). I see that the Tudor dash rail has a different ends.. no bead and not straight ends. I am working on another 29 Roadster and wanted to make sure I had the right dash rail. I do. I compared it directly to the other 29 Roadster I have and now see that the 29 Tudor, while similar, is quite different. Thanks for your help.

Open cars have their own cowl in the 28/29 cars. Nothing is the same except the gas tank and the lower boot cowl side pieces & firewall.

Just to add confusion to disorder, the Murray and Briggs fordors use different dash rails (different from the open or coupe/tudor ones). I believe the Closed Cab dash rail is different from the Coupe/Tudor, but only on the order of being about 1/8" narrower (I know the cowls have a different width).

Karl,
I believe you are correct, 28/29 CCPU's have a slightly narrower dash rail than tudor's and coupe's.
