29 Closed Cab Interior Trim Paint Color

I am getting ready to paint a 29 closed cab pickup that I've been working on for the past couple of years. Before I do, I want to make sure of the paint color for the dash rail, windshield garnishes, door window frames and garnishes, and rear window frame. As I understand it, they should be black, regardless of the body color. Is that correct? Thanks for any replies.

According to Area 12, page 11, revised 1994 issue of the MARC/MAFCA Restoration Guidelines and Judging Standards:

1928-mid 1930 Commercial Vehicles:

Dashrail/Windshield Pillars: Body Color;

Header Finish Strip: Windshield Frame Color (Upper and Lower Body Color);

Door Window/Quarter Window: Black Enamel;

Rear Window or Curtain Light: Black Enamel.

What color are you painting it? Commercial Gray was "dropped" August 1928.

The original Rock Moss green 29CC cabs I have seen have been painted just as you state. I have some photos of an original that show it to be true.

The finish scheme may be shown in a paint and finish guide somewhere also, but I have never seen it.

Check out this photo.

I am painting it L'anse green.

Dan,

Thanks for the reply and the photo. In the truck in the photo the dash rail and windshield garnishes are black as you said. Do you think this is all original paint on this truck?

Yes, there is no question that the paint on that truck was original. It was a 29 AA Express in excellent original condition. The fellow was very nice to let me take photos of it, I wish I had taken more.

Note that I don't see the windshield molding in the posted picture! The door garnish and door window finish frame looks black (as specified in the JS).

I have a Feb. '28 closed cab AA truck. The door garnish, door window finish frame, and rear window frame was painted body color (green) this is not according to the JS. The attached picture shows the inside of the door window frame.

But, it is an early '28 closed cab which was not available on the A until later in '28 (I thing August).

Here's a shot of the windshield trim.

Neil, you must have the cab with the raised rear window.
