My ahooga horn works Just not like it is supposed to Its loud enough but it only makes a one syllable noise Can anyone help me out here

Like F24 said try adjusting it a notch or two each way. It may be dirty. I have found a quick tune up posted here works really well. Just spread some cloths and cover the area. Take the rear horn cover off. Wash down the Brushes and comutator with a spray of WD 40 Wiping off all you can. Then back off the adjuster so it spins freely. Have someone hold the horn button and spray liberally with wd 40 till everything is good a clean. Wipe it dry, oil the pads front a rear, and put the cover back on. Adjust the screw a notch at a time until it screams AAAOOOOOHHHHHGGGGGAAAAAA!

I hold some 220 sandpaper lightly against the commutator as I push the horn button. That usually clean it up enough to work, but also put a couple drops of oil on the 2 wicks for the armature. After the cover is screwed on then give the adjustment screw a final adjustment for the right sound. Two weeks ago I had to loosen mine just one click for a much better sound.

As the motor starts to spin you get the "Ah" sound. When the motor is at speed you get the "oooo" and as it slows you get the "ga".

With that in mind if your horn just gives the "ooooo" then it is spinning up too fast, so tighten the screw a click or two , pressing the ratchet against diaphragm a little harder slowing the motor a bit.

If you are just getting the AH-GA (sick goat) the ratchet is pressing too hard or, most likely, the motor is not spinning strong and you need to follow Tom's advice above.

Thanks Guys. I have driving my neighbors nuts playing with this. LOL

Two things, check the tension of the front spring on the ******** wheel behind the diaphragm, fold a towel and tape it over and around the bell while adjusting, the neighbors won't hear it and you can still tell how it sounds. Once it sounds good with the towel- then you can try it without it.

Thanks for the tips guys. Ray my neighbors will love your advice, never thought of that. My horn didnt work when i got my car 2 weeks ago,and learned about the adjustment screw on youtube. Got it to work but couldnt get it to sound just right and was afraid of pissing off the folks around me so i hope the towel trick works.
