Im getting ready to install my Upholstery header panel and before I do I need to know where to run the wiring for the the electric motor ? Is the connection on the outside and if so where does the wire exit the frame? Does anyone have a picture of the motor mounting etc or know of a source for this ?
Thanks

There should be 5 holes on the upper left part of the frame.

The two outside holes are for the mounting of the wiper itself.

Then going from left to right, those two holes are for the wiper on/off switch and the wiper itself.

The next hole to the right is where the electrical connection on the wiper goes to connect to the wiper itself with a special connector, A-14471 Windshield wiper connector assembly.

If you have a copy of the service bulletins there are areas within that publication which show the route I think...If not then here it is. Page 215 in the Ford Service Bulletins.

The black with blue tracer wire exits the terminal box and goes to the right along the firewall going through special A-14593 Wire grommet supports with rubber wire grommets. Then it makes a right turn going along the cowl section to another A-14593 and rubber grommet. From there it goes up through the coupe pillar section going through A-14590 Windshield wiper wire grommet on belt rail continuing upward through A-14589 Windshield wiper wire finish strip grommet. From that point it goes along the channel which holds the front header upholstry peice for which the mirror is attached to a notch which attaches to the wiper.

NOW...if you are working with the very early 1928 Tudor (or coupes) then the routing is completly different.

See my website on the 28-29 gas tanks for that assembly.

According to an article in Technically Speaking, Vol #9, p. 61, there's an A-35261 clip that acts as both a front cowl panel support and wiper/cowl light wire support mounted on the first A-35266, cowl to side panel clamp. The article says the A-35261 never made it into the PPL, but I stumbled across it highlighting all the 55-A parts in my copy of the BPL, dated April 1, 1932. It's in the Front-End section on p. 39.

Based on the text in the previous threads, I can see how you can make the A-14589 out of an appropriately sized grommet, but is A-14590 metal with an inserted rubber grommet, or a formed rubber/bakelite that I could make on a 3D printer?

Regards,

They show up here in the swap meet now and then. Flea-Pay has listings for them now and then but not often. Aftermarket ones can be made to fit but they don't have the internal switch or the inside manual wipe lever like the old Owens Dyneto, Heinze, or EA Labs units. EA Labs made aftermarket units well up into the modern era but most are foreign made in this day and age.

This is an old thread. There are more recent threads than this.
