28 CCPU origin

Today I had a guy try and tell me all about my CCPU.

Just need some clarification and facts about origin.

Were all 28 RHD CCPU/s imported into Australia as a complete car?

Unlike my 28 phaeton which I believe was imported as a kit and assembled here at Geelong with Australian wood in all the subframe/floor.

He also tried to tell me that my CCPU must be a AA truck cab on a car chassis.

Actually, no US type steel cabs were imported into Australia in the Model A era. All the ones you now see are US imports via ebay or made up from repro panels which I believe are now made in Aust.
Ford Canada did not usually supply the Budd type phonebooth cab [ US type] but did use a Canadian design [ Banford?]which looks similar but a bit bigger.
Ford Australia used their own designs, many of which were a C cab style but also a full type cab was produced.
But there are anomalies ; a small number of US Budd cab AA's came to NZ & these have Canadian engines. .
Most Light Deliveries that came to NZ were the Nth American open cab & box. The big AA types [ plus A type] had local closed cabs which was common in nearly every export market in those days.
Dave in Aust. is the man to chime in here.

Mine is not a repro.

Where is the banford body bigger?

So I can compare.

Interesting, as my cab seems to have plenty of room, and I hear of complaints about room in the cabs.

Pooch, nice truck. Looks like an import from the US? These were never sold new in Aust.
Banford cabs were used within Canada & sometimes exported ; they appear to have more leg room. Most countries [ eg. Aust., NZ etc] were capable of providing truck cabs , certainly Australia which was a manufacturing facility for Ford by 1930. They did a version of the Canadian cab, made at Geelong.
I have sat in a Budd cab '29 Tow Truck & thought it cramped, but not so in my '29 Tudor. Depends whether you have long legs or not!
