While shopping for a rear fender bracket, I've noticed that there are at least 2 offered, a formed sheet metal, and a forging. I'm really just interested in a good fit and quality, although, it would be nice to have an original style. Anybody know which is best?? Thanks for any replies. Jack Fox, Lakewood, Ca.

The forged ones are definately 28s. Sometime in 29 Ford started making lots of parts out if stamped sheet metal. If they're not bent, they both will fit. Check the standards or service bulletins to see what month they changed.

Don't buy a new cast fender brackets. These are made to look similar to the original forged rear fender brackets. If you need to bend the cast ones a little to get it to fit, they will usually break. I believe the forged brackets were used into 29 maybe Feb or March, when the stamped ones started being used. If you are planning to use the early style buy an original forged bracket(s). Forged brackets come up on eBay quite often, usually for about $15 each. They are worth it. Hope this helps.

I must agree with the above, use original forged brackets they won't kink like the stamp steel type so you can adjust them cold to be where your fenders need to be. The cast ones will just snap if no heat is applied.
