1928/29 Huckster Body ONLY NO CHASSIS NO TITLE
loosely modeled on a Schurmeier Whitney Express Body for a Ford Model A Chassis Unfinished, some assembly required as they say.
This is one of two bodies made by a neighbor of mine built in the late 70’s early 80’ It has always been stored inside.
Rich built one for a fellow Model A Ford Club member and this is the UNFINISHED one that was for himself.
He passed away before he could finish it and I bought it from his estate.
This was built before the internet so there were no plans or a complete example available for him to pattern after. He used some old parts as templates and maybe some photos. I do not have any photos but I still have the old parts and you can have them if you want them.
I believe most of the parts he had were from a Schurmeier Whitney but it is not exactly as some originals I have seen but it is close.
This is made from solid oak, there is no plywood anywhere. He bought rough sawn oak and then planed it to size.
The roof is made from strips of solid oak hand fitted and nailed.
The doors are wood with a metal skin as shown. I believe that the skins are original as they are pitted but no rust through and the bottoms have been repaired. The B pillar metal covers I also believe to be original and also need some worked as they are also pitted and booger welded (not by me but I am a booger welder so I let others do it) in places for repair. The metal bed sides covers are handmade reproductions.
There are tailgate hinges and the upper angled side bed support hardware as well as door hinges. I do not have the angled wood planks that go above the bed sides but I do have originals to use a pattern. The red tailgate assembly is not bolted on just held on with the clamps for the photos.
The seat riser is a reproduction made from oak and sheet metal from an original as a template as well as the seat backs.
There is no other sheet metal included.
The roof is not attached and would not be sturdy enough to ship with it on without additional bracing.
As you can see this is on two pallets and I have a forklift to load it (it fits in the back of a full size pickup) but I will NOT arrange for any shipping but will load it if you arrange for a truck to pick it up.
Some dimension info:
Roof Section is 112" long by 48" wide and 6" high it is currently not bolted to the uprights/stakes/pillars
Body is 46.5" wide x 107.5" long and 57" tall with the roof on. There is tons of headroom and the legroom isn't bad either.
The front cowl is removable. The B pillars and back posts appear to be screwed not glued to the body so they should be removable as well.
