bought this to convert my two hole inlet and lose the loadamaic dizzy, hopfully be fitting it tomorrow any idea what this pipe is for? its not on my other inlet, should i blank it? cheers
That little tube inside the exhaust crossover is to provide heated air for the choke thermostat / pull-off mechanism on the carburetor.
They can burn thru and create an exhaust leak. Plugging the holes at each end would solve that problem.
Not sure of the best way to do it, a small threaded plug comes to mind.
many thanks appreciate the advice, will take it out see if can get threaded bolts failing that will weld up ends cut down and re insert.hoping to fit it over weekend, shoud liven up the ol girl a bit, so restrictive from factory.
You can also still buy the crossover tube. .it is thin steel and is pressed in.
I wouldnt weld it. I'd use an epoxy filler of some kind like JB Weld. if you are going to plug it. Then I would block off the heat riser areas on the gasket with thin sheetmetal.
This is assuming you may use an electric choke.
