272 intake on a 292 Y-block

I have a good 272, two-bbl intake and carb to put on my 292 project engine. Those have the old style carb that was similar to the flathead V8 carbs.
The intake and carb came off a '55 engine. The carb is a genuine FORD carb and it has the spark control valve in the back just like the Holley carb did that year.
Will I be able to run it without any problem using the original jets or will I need to use larger Jets in the carb?
Would it also be recommended to change the accellerator pump link position to the longest stroke so it will discharge more fuel, or would that even make any difference? There are three positions available. Cold, medium and warm weather operation.

That combo should work as designed. What year are the heads on the 272? 55-56 will have smaller intake ports than 57-64. But I can say from experience that when I put a 57 four barrel intake and a later genuine Ford carb on my stock '55 272, it ran much better and picked up a solid 2 mpg. If you go that route, you should up grade to a 57 up dist. But again, because I didn't know the difference (this was 37 years ago), I used the stock 55 dist., and it ran fine. In any case, good luck!
BTW, what kind of car is the 272 going in?

George................the engine is a 292, and the intake is for a 272, not the other way around. I would try it as is, and see how it runs. JMHO

Should have no problems. The carb was designed to run with the load-matic distributor (54-56) so if you are using that the carb is compatible. Try it with the stock jets first and check the plug colors.

Regarding the link, try all three and use the one with the best throttle response.
