272 4 barrel intake Manifold

I am looking for a good used 4 barrel intake manifold that will fit a 1957 272. Not cracks or stripped out bolt holes please.

I would surmise that the 272 engine you are looking for a 4 barrel manifold is the Y block style? If this be the case I think I have one. I will look for it and take some pics if that is what you are looking for. Do your heads have a casting number of three letters followed by 9090? I believe that is the number stamped into the Y block heads.. I am not positive about the 272-292's, I do know that the 312's are ECZ.

Bill,
Thanks for the reply. Interesting enough, one head has a casting of ECL6090 and the other head has a casting of ECL6090-A on it. I wonder if one is stock and the other is a replacement?? If so, I wonder if one of them has hardened seats in it. I was thinking of replacing them because I want hardened seats. Maybe I already have them, at least on one anyway.

I think ECL heads were original to 292s, about '55. Here's a link to head ID: http://fairlane.nu/spec/y-block-cylhead-chart.htm

If you want a Ford 4bbl intake you'll want one that's marked ECZ-B; it's for the later 4bbls. The ECZ-A has a smaller carb base pattern - I think it came on the '56s that used the teapot Holleys.

There are several different heads with ECZ marks, some have bigger valves, the ECZ-Gs are considered best by most folks. I had ECLs on the '55 292 I got for my 56 Fairlane, replaced them with ECZ-Cs (292).

If you get a ECZ-A intake there is a Carter 4 bbl that was used on the 56 Mercs that will bolt to it and I happen to have one of those Carter 4 bbls I will let go of.

The correct heads for all 57 YBlocks were ECZ-G.

The "A" intake manifolds were pre 57. 57 used the "B" intake manifolds
