hello- am new to model t's- need to change tires- have looked on google and looked in Snyders catalog and not sure what type of rim there is on the 27T wooden spoked-can anyone tell me and point me to a web site where there are pictures- thank you
If the tire size is 4.40 - 4.50 x 21, they would be a "split rim", which they should be on a '27, unless it had wire wheels but you stated "wooden spoked". Wires would also take the same size tire. Can't help with photos.
Stock wood wheels for 1927 had 21" demountable balloon tires (split rim). But as stated above, somebody could have put clinchers on it. Can't you get the size from the tires that are on the car now?
Go to Coker Tire web page or Mac's catalog web page. Not a fun project, no matter what the size. Split rims are best done with a rim spreader. In any case let the tires warm in the sun. I used to use soap or light veg. oil when removing and installing new tires. And don't pinch the tubes, it is easily done. Good luck.
