Would not hurt. The last time I put new rubber seals in, the supplier told me to heat them up real well before installing. That did not go very well because when they cooled down I had gaps all over the place. The second time I used the window sealant and it turned out great. New glass is sometimes a little thinner than the original also. Good luck.
