26-27 speedster project

I purchased a 1926 Model T running chassis at an auction last month. I bolted a Model A seat to the chassis and drove it around, and the running gear drived out very good. I would like to make a speedster out of it. I have been told that modifications are required to bolt a Rootlieb body to a 1926/27 chassis, they are made to bolt up to a 1925 and earlier chassis. Is anyone familiar with these modifications or have plans for a 26/27 speedster that I can review.

The differences are in the wood floor assembly which can easily be modified. You can also buy the body parts-bucket seats, gas tank, tool box, etc separately and make your own wood floor. The other option is to buy a 1925 or earlier frame and bolt your 26-26 engine, front end, rear end and suspension to it. These frames are around and reasonably priced.

I was checking the Rootlieb site and looking at the photos again of the kit. I built a few of these speedsters but it has been awhile back. The part of the kit that doesn't work on a 26-27 frame is the special Rootlieb rear crossmember. However, you only need that part if you are planning on lowering the car that way. There are other ways of lowering the rear end such as de-arching the spring, a reverse eye spring or hand modifying the 26-27 rear crossmember. The wood floor of the kit needs to have the hole cut for the rear crossmember anyway, so it doesn't matter what frame you have. Everything else is the same.
