226 Cracked Lifter Bore

Hi Guys,
I hope its okay I post about a 6 cyl in the V8 section…but want some opinions. I am currently building a 226 H series for my 47’ 1 ton pickup and while setting my valve lash I noticed a nasty crack on the lifter bore (picture upload failed? Figuring it out). Yes this has been to the machine shop and was overlooked. The machinist says Id be fine to run it with it as is and leave it alone, while Im skeptical of this Bubba over at the ford six forum agrees so maybe I am okay to run as is!! Just curious what some of you guys have seen and experienced and what you might do (run or repair OR ditch the block). I dont have a ton invested in this engine but enough Id be painful to start over, I suppose that’s the fun/nature of the old car hobby.

Hi Sam. I rebuild engines for a living, and while I wouldn't sell a customer a block with that problem, if it were mine and the lifter feels nice in its bore and doesn't have extra clearance you can feel ( with lash present of course) I'd run it. No, it's not "right" or pretty but you have a very good chance it'll run a long time that way.

not hydrolic so it cant leak question is How long has it been cracked as stated if the lifter runs nicely cant see any problems running it may have been there at the start of its life
