I'm kind of disapointed. I CCed an A head today, casting no. on top inside the curve, (81A-6049A) 80cc, I expected smaller chambers than that. I'll have to dig out a 59AB head and CC a chamber tomorrow. I was kind of thinking about useing these A heads on a Vintage stock car, 59AB factory realieved 276 400jr cam. I guess the only way to get get some decent compression is use the Offy heads. The Speedway book says 9.1 comp on the 276. Im sure the factory relieved will drop it a little. Maybe I could fill the chambers of the A heads with some bondo, what do you think? lol Walt

Hey Walt
Don't think Bondo will do it, ha ha. Get some of those Canadian C7RA heads
Regards
Jim

JB Weld

I remember back in the 50's a friend stock gye put the heads in his coal furnace, got them hot and melted two sticks of braze in each chamber and then had them milled to make sure they were flat. Wish I had a coal furnace. Maybe I could put them in my barbacue. When your brought up on a farm you use what you can find out behind the barn. ( I got my education out behind the barn and it almost made a wreck out of me) Walt

Walt,
If it's a stock car motor and originality isn't an issue could
you make a pair of EAB heads work? The water by pass hole at the
front might be a problem but much less of an issue than filling the
chambers.
JB Weld is a great product but.............it gets hot in there.

Yea, Charlie NY, I've got some EAB heads that CC out to about 63, I've got some 8BA style engines out with those heads. Take 276 with an L-100 cam, Merc intake with a 283 Chevy 2GC carb, and EAB heads, make a snappy engine. And cheap top build. Walt
