Which engines are 21A rods out of?

Which rods do I need to find if I need a replacement set for a '36 LB engine?

Thanks

Randy, I may be wrong, but going by part numbers, 21A would be 1942 and later 221, 91A would be the direct precessor, being introduced in 1939 for 221's. The earlier motors like your 36 LB ran rods of the same dimensions, however, they do not have the 'beef' of those later 91A's and 21A's, so whilst theoretically you could substitute any of these rods, the balance would need to be taken into account. Run any style of these three generations of rods, but run them as a set, not mixed! Are you suitably confused now? Brian

Randy-

I have a '36 LB engine in my '35 and when I rebuilt the engine I installed 21A rods. The 21A rods are a lot more "beefer" than the originals and fit like a glove with the '36 inners. Just to be safe (since I juggled parts), I balanced the entire assembly. That was over 30 years ago. No problems to date!
