Hi

IF the main battery has problems.

Will the car(SUV) still drive and be usable?

Main battery being the big one for the electric motor.

Have a nice Saturday

Bob

Looking at buying this from the neighbor.

Can't speak for Ford but my sister's Volt died on Electric and wouldn't run on gas either. Towed to the dealer and they "believed" it was the main battery but couldn't get a replacement for months. And then they weren't sure that would fix the problem. Chevy ended up buying it back. And on a side note, my 2017 Volt experienced a no charge problem. It would charge intermittently until eventually it wouldn't charge at all. But it would run fine on gas. Dealer finally determined it was a wiring issue. All OK now but?

Hi KULTULZ & 51504bat

Thank you for the responses.

We will go ahead and get it.

Then it goes straight to the mechanic.

Slow boat stuff.Just charge up all batteries and look it over.

Have a good Sunday

Bob

If it runs, maybe consider taking it in and getting an estimate as to what and how much. They will charge a diagnostic fee but you will know what to expect once it is yours and you go too deep. These things can get really expensive really quick.

Almost a grand to trace down the wiring issue related to the Volt no charge issue. No parts just diagnostic labor.

... damn ...

But that is what it costs on late model cars. If you are out of warranty or do not have an extended warranty, you are just begging for it unless you can do the work yourself.

Working on it yourself is a thing of the past! I just replaced my 16 F150 with a 24, you almost need a computer sciences degree to operate the thing!

Add to that my ol body no longer enjoys crawling around on the ground to change the oil. Found a shop I trust, he is a motor head and has a couple of classics.
