2-Tooth Gear Box

Help! I have been collecting parts for several years to build my Model A funride.....an open top woodie. I have been very careful not to use "perfect" parts that you Ford Barners need for your restorations. Having said that, I purchased a 2-tooth gear box from a hotroder who was installing a Vega steering box. He told me those dreaded words "it worked great before I removed it!" I just finished intalling it in the frame along with a new shortened pitman and discovered that the steering box will will only turn to the left (great if I was building a wooden Indy 500 car). I know that the 2-tooth gear box has several adjustments, but I thoght I'd ask here before I did anything. Adjust/Rebuild/Replace? Thanks, Mike Miller

In this day and age it is nice to check something like that out! It may be that one of the bearings are shot within the gear box. Did you check to see if it holds oil or not? If it dosen't, then you need to remove it, get some good instructions on rebuild, and make the adjustments...if something were to happen while you were driving it....well...it may cause an accident.

Be safe and take it off and rebuild where necessary.

If the box is OK (no cracks etc.) it's no problem to rebuild them. All the parts are available through the suppliers.
