Talking to a fellow at a car show yesterday. He had a two barrel carb on a down draft manifold. I ask what did it do for his Model A. He said it improved gas mileage by 300 %. I know that was a big stretch but wondering what thoughts everyone had on a two barrel mod. This might be going on a touring engine. Thanks

Makes sense to me!! Adding another barrel to the carburetor that increases the amount of fuel going into the engine is surely going to help the engine's fuel economy!

It all depends on a lot of things how good it will work. It really will not help your milage much. It depends on the manifold, valves, ports, compression, what cam, how fast you run your engine, and more. Also to get it right you will need a fuel pump. Some say you won't but you really will.

You would be better off boring out the intake and using a B carb.

Thats what I was thinking, gas pouring out the carburetor:-)

My guess too - kinda like these magic dual electrode or quad electrode sparkplugs claiming this or that and people who use them say oh yea runs much smoother - they fail to figure out any new plug is going to run smoother than 100,000 mile worn plugs haha.

Thanks for all the replies. With all due dillagence the guy must be nuts.:D
The 31 runs just fine.;)
