2 1/16" clock

Can anybody offer a suggestion? I would like to replace my oil pressure gage with a battery powered clock. I found the almost perfect clock (Auto Meter 1785), however it is 12 volt, and my car is 6 volt.

I have looked at battery "fit up" clocks, but they are either too small or too big.

Hi Brian,

I made one for my airplane. I went to WalMart and purchased a wrist watch with a face that looked old fashioned, numbers and hands, etc.

Then I took off the band, and cut a piece of black plastic pvc pipe about an inch long, added some little metal tabs on the outside to hold it in the dashboard (instrument panel) and then glued the watch in the back of it. It looks real good. I can take a pic if you want me to but I won't be going to the hangar for a few days.

Great idea; thanks for the suggestion.

I got a nice 8 day aircraft wind up clock and mounted that in my car. It's mounted on the header above the windshield

That's a great idea. I really wanted to remove my useless oil pressure gage, and fill the hole with something useful. I'll bet I can modify a clock like that to fit.

Thank you

Thank you very much.

I was also thinking about a battery holder with 8 double A batteries, which should last years, with the Quartz clock movement.
