Hi,
Was the P-code 390 in 1965 Galaxie come with solid lifters and did it have the cast iron exhaust manifolds? Did the P-code engine make the car have all the earlier police items such as 31 spline rear axles, heavy front sway bar, rear sway bar, or was it just the engine when it was a p-code? Thanks Steve

The 1965 390PI had a solid valve-train and used PASS CAR log style EXH manifolds.

The ENGINE CODE P designates only the engine, not necessarily any other POLICE PACKAGE(s).

Thanks KULTULZ. I can always depend on you to help me. Is there some place I can decode the line setting ticket? I do have it and it shows Springs front N rear L (Are these std?). Rad Y (?) Rear axle A 4 Tires size T type 1 (did they still use the cat eye kh wheels?) . Under POL PKG/TAXI PKG it has 7 (what does this designate?). Did the 65 ever use a rear sway bar? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks !

Do you have the car? How do you come across this stuff? You are causing me to be jealous ... ;)

I don't have a CROSS-REFERENCE for a LST but maybe can find some info for you (most build info on the net is for late model).

The 7 for POL/TAXI indicates it as having a POLICE PACKAGE if it has a P-CODE ENGINE. I am sure there were several different packages as needed/ordered.

I think this info was listed in the model year WSM SPECIFICATIONS MANUAL, but will have to verify.

If you have the car, can you send me by E-MAIL a photo of the PATENT PLATE and a scan of the LST? MARTI AUTO WORKS has most of this information but nothing before 1967.

I'm gonna hafta keep an eye on you guys as you are getting too good at finding stuff. Is there a lot of old iron down through there?

Tell your son for me I hated to hear he got rid of his MARK. Good riding cars.

Maybe someone here can decode it?

Hi Kulutz,
Yes I have the car. We gave a deposit on it about 4 weeks before we bought the 61. Then waited for 6 weeks for the man to get the title straightened out. Same deal with this car, not the original block or solid lifters but we have it ready to sell will make a beautiful car. Does have the build sheet, org owners manual with all info with it and org sells folder. This car is for sale now, along with the MARK. You know how it goes if we wouldn't have bought the 61 & 65 both deals would have fell through. Thanks I will get a email to you.

(did they still use the cat eye kh wheels?)

To answer that one, no.

The KH WHEEL was used on the 1960-64 HP CARS (incl POLICE) 1960 - 15 X 5" and 1961-64 - 15 X 5.5"
