1965 Galaxie Build Sheet Questions

A lot of the info was found as another poster here has a 64 GALAXIE 4DR HDT that was ordered as a PC, but the salesman must have hit the wrong box and it came through as a HDTP rather that the CUSTOM 4DR SEDAN.

Hi KULTULZ,
Since I thought about it it has the larger rear wheel cylinder bores (the non police/taxi) on the rear when I rebuilt them. Shoe size is 11"x2.25" on both reg & police packages? Just differences in wheel cyl bore and metallic brake lining?
Thanks for the tip on the Lincoln website I will forward the info to him.
Thanks
Steve

Below are the listing(s) for the brakes. I hope they are viewable.

For some reason, this site will not allow my attachments to show full size.

WOW you always come thru with facts!. Yes I can read them. Thanks! Nice day outside and waiting for telephone man to show up (he didn't) I thought what the heck, get the galaxie in the driveway and jack it up. First thing I did was check for any indications of a sway bar on the frame and saw nothing. Nothing on the rear. Marked tire and yoke made 2 revolutions with the tire 3 1/4"
revolutions on the yoke so with no doubt its still geared as original. Got under the front and I found the trans tag. HEH-BL . Searched it , says 1965 Galaxie 390 close ratio 28 spline, GREAT still has the original transmission too. So now at least I know what is what at least on that. While I was under it I got a good look at the frame too. I am pleased as it is in great shape too.
I did see the driveshaft on the rear has the smaller center with the outer rubber and outer larger shaft which is smooth from there to the front yoke. Is this heavy duty or standard?
Thanks again
Steve

HI,
I appreciate you digging up all the info. No I didn't measure the rears. I need to do that. I'm learning more and more. One thing I am learning is that some of the die hard HIPO people don't know the differences in a true PI engine. I'm enjoying this FORD school! Thanks

I see you have the car for sale in the swap meet section with some pictures.

Sal

One other thing I saw too is it has a pinion dampener. I have never seen one before.

It was to prevent the axle HSG from hitting the frame on hard acceleration (rear suspension squat - and AXLE WRAP-UP). There may be two others on the frame rails above the axle HSG.

The driveshaft may be lessened in DIA towards rear axle to allow for muffler size, brake cables, etc. Depended on application.

Hi KULTULZ & scicala, Yes that is the car in the for sale section. Sure hope it finds a good home. I would love to keep it but I'm out of room and money and so is my son. Its going to make someone a beautiful car along with being a rare car. I appreciate the driveshaft chart. The dampener I was talking about is mounted around the yoke itself. I read a little about it, as it was to dampen driveshaft vibrations. As to the driveshaft I assume thats the same reason for the 2 size rear of the driveshaft, which is actually a smaller shaft with rubber around it inside the larger main driveshaft. Thanks Steve

Now that is interesting ...

When ever you get back under there, can you try and find any ID NOS.?

That is GENUINE FORD (Damper Flange 390/427).

I did not know that.

Hi KULTULZ , I sure will see if there is any numbers. Patrick I grabbed that photo off of the internet but yes looks like it was done nice.

I sure will see if there is any numbers.

You think any 390s or just PI or HP models?

In the MPC APPLICATION CHART, it gives 390, not differentiating between the two (300HP or 330HP). Everything goes by the REAR TAG I.D., not necessarily model/drive-train.

EDIT -

If you notice in the chart, it calls for a 28 SPLINE AXLE as coming with or without damper. It also lists a 31 SPLINE AXLE (w/o damper) which I am assuming at this point was the 427. So on that basis I think the damper was used on the 330 HP PC.
