My first car was a beat up daily driver 1960 Ranchero with a 144 i6 and a three on the tree with finicky linkage (weren't they all). I fell in love with the early 60's body style and want to do a more high performance Ranchero in the near future. I remember that the rear suspension barely dropped out enough to squeeze the rear tire out from under the body and was wondering if it was the same on the 1963. I want to use a four link setup in the rear and am wondering if it will give enough drop out to remove the rear wheels say with a set of mags and bfg's (on the meaty side). I figure the overall diameter may be the same or smaller due to the skinny and tall style of the og tires and wheels. I am thinking of running the ride tech mustang four link and doing what it may take to get it to fit. Also, has anyone tubbed a ranchero? Is it tougher than most or a breeze? Thanks for any help....Ps I will be running a 9 inch out of a 60's car most likely.
