Just got too much stuff goin on right now, gonna cut my wagon loose... '61 four door, I just picked it up a few months ago, had been off the road and in dry storage for over 20 years when I got it. The previous owner did some work on it, he was a retired mechanic and body guy and everything that he did appears to have been done WELL. He rebuilt the engine, which is a 170, and 3spd trans. He also patched the tailgate bottom and spare tire well and one small spot under the pedals where the driver's side vent leaked and rotted the floor. 1.5 coils lopped from the front, 3" blocks out back, bumpstops have been shortened and upper shock mounts raised one inch. All doors and latches work including the roll down rear window and tailgate.
Comes with a set of four original steel wheels with caps and four gently used BW tires, The car has a VERY hard to find old set of four lug chrome slots currently installed, they're a little ragged but look presentable in the car's current condition. Also has an original wood rim superior steering wheel. I have a box of other spare parts and odds and ends that goes with it as well. Comes with all the emblems and letters, etc.
The car runs great, steers perfect and stops on a dime. Fly in and drive it home. I've been driving it to and from work and around town here since I got it with no issues. THIS CAR IS STRAIGHT and solid, literally, you could scuff it and have it ready for paint in an afternoon. No dents, dings, or rot to speak of.
New items include:
Four brand new 175-80r13 5/8" whitewall tires
clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing
brake shoes and hardware
wheel cyls
master cyl
all four shocks, rears are air shocks
ball joints
strut rod bushings
sway bar bushings
voltage regulator
battery
rebuilt carb
heater hoses
radiator hoses
fuel pump and lines
boiled out gas tank
cap, points, rotor, wires and plugs
used electric wiper motor installed
wiper blades
glasspack muffler
Items that may need attention:
interior is ragged but functional, looks like the front seat was recovered at some point and is pretty nice.
Paint is just whatever... needs a paint job.
windshield has a crack on the edge, doesn't affect the viewing area but the car comes with an extra PERFECT windshield and the rubber to install it. Also comes with a spare rear roll up glass, long rear quarter glass, and a passenger side vent window which also has a crack.
Horn isn't wired up, everything is there, just needs hooked up.
Fuel gauge is intermittent/incorrect, I think the float is sunk, usually it reads E, sometimes when you fuel up it bounces around a bit for a while then settles back on E eventually. When grounded, the gauge goes to F so it's defintely a sender issue.
Original 3.50:1 Rear axle sings a little bit under cruise, not sure if it's a bearing or worn gears but it hasn't gotten any worse in the last 2k miles. I've got a line on a low mileage original 3.20:1 rear I may pick up and install this week.
Heater/defroster works but I think it needs a new core, it's sorta luke-warm. Autozone has them for less than $30
PM me with any questions, I'll take some more pics tomorrow and post them up.
