1960 Convertible

I have a friend who has an all original 1960 convertible, w/Auto trans, data plate correct. In taking out the old carpet to replace with new he found there was a clutch pedal installed but not hooked to anything with a rod or anything else under the carpet. He also found the door panels were originally blue but had been dyed black. He was pretty sure these had never been replaced. Also under the top well he found the top side of the inner panel over the wheel had been hammered down prior to the original painting. Can anyone explaing these 3 things. Curosity has gotten us. Thanks O. White

Car had a manual trans in it at one time. Your data plate trans code will tell you if originally a stick. Somebody dyed your door panels black. Again, data plate will tell you interior trim code. There is sometimes a clearance dimple on converts to buy space for the top mechanism when in top down position, especially with a low profile '60 Ford.

I have a 64 ranchero that had the same clutch pedal deal no holes in firewall no z bar or linkage car is an automatic i'm guessing they were using leftover parts

Its probably been pieced togather and make sure the VIN on the plate matches to whats stamped on the body and frame

Could be a factory screw up as far as the clutch pedal goes. Supposed to be an automatic (check vin plate) but they put in a pedal assembly for a stick. Too much trouble to change it, so they hid it.
