hi all!
I need some help on my 58 power steering cylinder. I ordered a new one from mac but it is incorrect in that it uses much smaller fitting inlets which enter the cylinder and not the end bracket as the old one does. I was told that the one on my car came from a 56 or 55 car and may have been added. mac says that the old style is backordered until june. can anybody verify that the 56 style will work(the catalog illustration looks like it will) and wwhere I can get a good one? any help is greatly valued!!!
thanks!

Google "Lares Corporation, Cambridge Minnesota". They did a valve for me, and a few years later they did my pump. Fair price, good turn around, and first class work.

If I remember correctly, the 57 and newer cylinder has much smaller pressure and return ports than the '55/56 cylinder does.

that is correct-the 57 and new uses the small ports so evidently someone has added/changed this and the control valve to the 56 style. I contacted lares and they do not have one in stock but can rebuild mine which I probably will do(hope its rebuildable) if I cant find one.
if anyone knows where I can get one off the shelf I would appreciate it!!

thanks all for any help!

well I talked to tee bird products and they did not have the correct cylinder but did have a seal kit. I figured what the heck-it's worth the price to see if it will work so I ended up installing them and NO LEAK!! I am overjoyed as usually my reseal jobs never seem to workout as they should! now on to the next problem!
