1957 Thunderbird hood latch question

Quite some time ago..........I removed the hood latches from the hood on my 1957 Tbird. I am now in the process of putting it back together. When I took it apart I failed to notice a slight cant in the brackets. While getting ready to put them back on I found my error.
Would anyone know which way the cant should point.

the lower part goes to the rear of the car.

They are also left and right handed. The short sides face the fenders.
This example is a left / drivers side latch pin bracket. Viewed from the rear.

Yes sir,I found that out the hard way. I had noticed that there was a cant front to back, but did not notice the left to right cant.
I did mark these when I removed them, but since painted them.
