1956 Windshield

Hey guys, brand new here. I have a 56 Customline Victoria I inherited from my folks. It was the first brand new car they ever owned. It's in rough shape but I've been saving the money to get started on it and the time has come. Just wondering if Ford used the same windshields in the Customlines and Fairlanes. I need a new windshield and I found one that came out of a 4 door Fairlane from 56. The guy thought they would interchange but wanted to see if anyone had any actual experience. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Nope, there's 2 different windshields for the 56's. Some have a lower roofline - I don't have my parts book handy but I think the body style 64 (Victoria/Crown Vic) and 76 (Sunliner convertible) have the lower style windshields.

I got a new one for my Fairlane, they're readily available. Got it at the local glass shop for a bit less $$ than anyplace else. But they ain't cheap.

Be very careful with the SS trim, it fits in the rubber. You will need new rubber to put new glass in. I bought mine from Little Dearborn in Minneapolis.

Thanks for the info. Glad I surfed into this forum. I'm sure I'll have a lot more questions over the coming months / years.
