I’m new to posting here. While I’m not personally a vintage car enthusiast, my father, Ron Geer, was. He meticulously restored three fine-point Model A Fords, each earning “Henry” status, along with a 1956 T-Bird that also received national awards. So, I’ve been around the hobby all my life.
I inherited the T-Bird following Dad’s passing in 2022. The car hasn’t been driven in four years and is currently stored at a classic car facility where the battery is maintained and the car is periodically started.
I had the battery replaced in January of this year. At the time, I couldn’t find a Group 29N or 32N 12-volt replacement that matched the unique tall, slender profile of the original Ford battery and would fit the narrow, elongated factory battery tray. I ultimately went with a Group 27F.
As I understand it, the 27F requires modifications to the tray or hold-down because of its different dimensions, and there may also be an issue with the positive terminal contacting the hood. Currently, the battery isn't secured in the tray, and the hood isn't fully closed. This arrangement works for storage and starting, but obviously isn't a long-term solution.
I’d appreciate recommendations for either:
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or recommendations!

I’d appreciate recommendations for either:
- An aftermarket 12-volt battery that fits the original 1956 Ford battery tray.
- An aftermarket replacement tray that accommodates a Group 27F or similarly sized battery.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or recommendations!
