1956 Thunderbird brake question

I am wondering if any later model front disc brake setup will easily bolt on to the 56 T-birds. I heard that some intermediates like a Torino may work. I have a disc brake 71 Montego junk car. Does anyone know if I can transpose those brakes on to my 56 T-Bird?

Yes you can, but ...

It will require a spindle changeover which may lead to future alignment problem(s).

There are kits available to mount on your present spindles with little fuss, both single piston and fixed 4-piston calipers which I personally would prefer.

Those kits are pretty expensive for a poor boy. I was hoping to use factory parts that just need work instead of money.

COPY THAT!

I have not read or seen a 70/71 intermediate spindle swap being discussed.

I would imagine the ball joints might present a problem but can be overcome.

Maybe pull the parts and begin checking for things. But similar swaps (1973/ FORD and 72/ INTERMEDIATE are common.
